I'm new to the forum and would to say Hi to everyone.I got my glide towards the end of Nov. put my 1000 miles before the end of Dec.. Now Jan. comes around and I want to go with the stage 2 kit but I was reading post on the forum and wasn't to happy with the stuff I was finding out about PCIII vs Downloads. So I go to my dealer tell them what I'm reading and asking them what's the deal. They say we have not had any problems and Harley knows what runs best with your bike, they put the package togehter. Before my 1000m's was in I had a overheat problem in Dec. got stuck in some after work traffic and the bike would not run (stall),start it back up but would have to keep the throttle twisted alittle.I'll get to the point: Stage 2,download,true duals. Is the overheating going to continue and can I use the PCIII with download? Dealer does not have a dyno.
All you have to do is find a shop that knows how to tune bikes. PCIII works fantastic for me with custom dyno mapping. If your dealer has no dyno, forget it.
Do NOT go with the download unless you wanna be posting after getting bike back that your bike runs like crap.
Find another dealership with a dyno and have the bike dyno tuned. If not people will be telling you.."I Told You So"
Overheating is an issue yes, but most of that do to the bikes running lean which as you can tell is NOT a good thing. The other thing you can look into is the HD Fan that will help relieve some the of the heating problem. Some people recommend the oil cooler which i PERSONALLY think is useless when it's ONLY good while moving and not in traffic.

Have you heard anyone directly commenting one way or the other about the fan?? I wonder what environmental conditions (hot/dry vs. hot/humid) would most benefit from it.
Any hot enviroment would benefit from it. The air always flowing on the bike is what cools it down that's why I think the oil cooler is useless compared to a fan.
That's why they run fans on sportbikes, yes i know they have a radiator, but also have cooling fans.

DWB4L, I had the same problem....in bad Houston traffic one morning and it kept dying. After putting the PCIII on the bike it will do away with that problem. I have a custom map that the retailer put on my PCIII but I have an appt tomorrow at 9:00 am to get it dyno tuned....even though the bike is running awesome I just gotta a fever for some dyno. I almost got the download but luckily I joined this forum....and everyone on here says it is like throwing money in the fireplace.
