Oh yea , and it seem's as though mother nature is getting even with us this year for the mild winter last year ! I bought mine in Cobleskill , but it had originally come from the Mass. coastal area. The oil fill cap has Boston Harley printed on it. I have pretty much replaced all the chrome on the bike except for the wheels. The guy I bought it from did replace those with Ultima 80 spoke wheels. I am currently in the process of sanding and polishing the edges of the cooling fins on the motor , this will definately eat up the rest of the winter LOL !

I had the exact same problems on my 01 E Glide I bought this summer from a guy downstate.
And you actually know where 'Upstate' IS !!! This one came from CT, right on the coast; I don't think it was kept outside but I think the salt-air gets to them.
I'll try that trick on the forks, too. Mine aren't peeling yet but they don't look like they should.
