ATC2: If you have the HD Extended Service Agreement, it has very harsh provisions excluding coverage for any repair on an altered drive train,e.g., engine. And your dealer can't re-write those provisions, although if you have a problem with an engine they built, the dealer may (or may not) stand by their work or fib/lie to the underwriter, CNA Insurance, about the parts, etc. to have the repair covered. Of course, the underwriter may send an auditor to check-up, especially if it is an expensive repair.
Thanks guys for helping me get my head straight on this, all great advice and in a way it's kinda what I was expecting and hoping to hear. It will help If I can get some of the warranty money back. I think I'll just do a good build with good components. Got some research to do...
Thanks guys...!
i had my o4 glide to 95 from 88 with no head work but SS 510 Gear drive cams
and my own power commander and remapped myself and had the job done for total
of $1563.00 for everything for about 450 to get heads flowed extra, better check around the dealer is scarring you about warrantee
For the kind of money you are talking, you can do a HeadQuarters, GMR or other build with all the components complimenting each other and design to work well as a kit. Your warranty may be valid at the dealer that does the install, but doubt it will be honored at any other dealer. Screw the warranty and have the build done by a reputable independent, or even do it yourself. It really is not all that hard to do, just takes some time and patience and you will save a ton of money.
If you do go with what you proposed, the compression releases are not necessary at 9.6:1.
If you want to tackle the build yourself, or just want more info to make that decision, give me a PM and I can help you with it and there are others on this forum that will do the same.
I have done all HD builds and the latest is a HQ build.quite a difference between the parts, quality and results that you will get.
I agree the 211 cam you will not be happy with on a heavy bike. There are better 95" kits avalible for the same or less money, I know im partial but I sure am happy with the service, parts, workmanship and power of my hq build and I here the hq 95" kit is very strongand reliable.
I have SE 211 on my Bike and the Bike Runs like a Raped Ape, and i also know of a few other People with Touring Bikes Running SE 211's andthey are more then Happy so to so they are weak or no good for Heavy Bikes is Totally Subjective
