Nah, I did NOT get the gauge for my bike. Got it for work to test some thermal insulating paint.
It is actually a lot of fun to play with. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=96451
I have been "shooting" everything....computer processor, walls, ceiling, dogs, rabbit, cherry on the end of my cig (305 degrees).
Thought it would be fun to check out the tires. Seems no one knows what the ideal temp is though.
I bought this one (http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=93984), which is on sale for $20. It only goes up to 482° instead of 968°. I don't think I'll encounter anything on the bike that'll exceed the max for the cheaper t'meter. I also have been playing with it, checking head temps mostly. Never occurred to me to check tire temps, but I would say to just use the mfr. specs, the cold max shown on the sidewall, or something in between.
