Hey, just got my PCIII and they gave me a Factory MAP of
817-015. Was wondering if anyone has done any tweaking to the curve to get a better response. ie.....Throttle %. Here are my specs.
04 Classic
SE Performance Exhaust
Stage (1) w/ K&N Air Filter
PCIII usb tuned to 817-015
Personally I wouldnever use a canned map even if it wasfor the same set-up. I get all my bikes dyno tuned. I also have the top tuner in my area just10 minutes from my house.
Are you having problems. I think you will find just about everyone in here thats using the PCIII has done some messing with it. I am assuming you have installed one. Did you set the 0% and 100% throttle? Myself , I had mine dynoed after install and then proceeded to mess with some of my settings, always saving custom settings so I could back up if I didnt like what I had done.
Hitch, I don't see that map # in the PC map database. Was it installed when you bought the PCIII or did you download it?
As for the wisdom of using canned maps, I've had nothing but good luck with them. If you want to extract an extra few tenths HP from your engine, I suppose you might do it with a custom dyno tune, but that isn't imporatant enough for me to shell out several $C's for the difference.
I too am in the process of installing the PCIIIusb to my 2004 EGClassic, my bike is basically stock except for SE exhaust, plan to install A/C sometime in the near future, the map Jamie downloaded is pretty much for a stock bike. I am going this route as I hope it willhelp with the heat issues. I'm somewhat on the bottom of the learning curve and I'm still trying to figure out the PC to be surethe setting is not too lean, etc.

If you're running a map installed by Jamie, you don't need to worry about the bike being too lean. Jamie tunes for performance and cooling, and you get that by keeping the mixture on the rich side.
