Me too have you capped it with anything?
I also was told at the HD display International Bike show there is a bike with the rails that are not punch for the tube?? Anyone have pics??

Went to a Marine store today and found some simple push in caps. $6.95 each .....not so simple!! Anyway I have some chrome bullets on the way and I will see how this all works out I will post the finished mod...

I cut the tube off about 1/2" behind the dimple, Drilled and tapped 2 holes for 10/24 set screws, threaded an allen bolt that I turned down to fit into tubeinto 1/2 -13 pike nut, insert nut/allen into tube and tighten set screws. Did this back in '99 on my Road King also.

Not the authority on that. I mostly ride single. I have heard both bad and good like anything if you go with getting rid of it and it seems to be bothersome you can always pick a take off up for cheap...my.02
