Default FLH Forward Controls, HELP!!!!!!

Hey fellas,

I have 07 Road King that I NEED to get forward controls for. Im 6'5" and the floor boards just arent getting it done for me. I have spent a lot of time looking and I have found two companies that have what I am looking for. Jay-Brake makes a good looking setup for a good price, $500. Accutronix makes a great set, that has 9" extension which they state should only be used by people with a 35" inseam but cost a bit more. I want to know if there is a huge difference between the two??? Any other info you guys can share would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Josh

I've heard good things about Accutronix. Not familiar with the other.

Josh,
What happened to your crash bar ? If you still had it you could hang some adjustable footpegs off it and give your legs some room to breath. I know it looks better without it but sometimes you have to give up looks for comfort !!!

I've run Accutronics controls on my Hardtail for the past 9 or so years, I could be wrong but I don't think they make any more than a 3" extended, which is what I have; I'm 6'5" also and the 3" is plenty. On a stock rake I don't think you'd clear the back end of the front tire with a 9" extention[]. They've about doubled in price since I bought mine but I think they're one of if not the best availible. I finally had them rechromed and replaced some bushings after about 8 years so they do hold up well. I'm ok with the boards on my SG, but I do miss my open primary... hmmm...

American Bagger magazine just has an install article on the Jaybrake J-FL Forward controls in this months issue. I just got it yesterday. I have a Jaybrake 6 piston caliper on mine and I can tell you it is a great quality piece. I have to believe the forward controls are of the same quality.

Accutronix are also a quality piece from what I have seen on a friends chopper, but they are pricey.

Bart (Shooter64) on this forum can probably get you a pretty good deal on the Jaybrake products. I got my caliper from him. Send him a PM.

Are you really wanting to go with true forward controls, or are you just looking for a way to get a little more leg room and retain the boards? I've ridden with both and prefer boards by far.

Another topic was posted this morning with a link to a relocation kit for the boards that moves them forward 2". Might be an option.

Here is a thread from not to long ago that I posted on about the j-brake and accutronix forward controls. Scroll down to post #14 by me. I do not think the j-brake setup will give the tall fellers like our selves what we are looking for and I posted pics for comparison. As you see in my sig I have accutronix. I bought them from Bart (Shooter64) used so I know he can get accutronix aswell if that is the route you want to go....and he is great on prices. I believe he is away for a bit do to those tornados but give him time to reply. By the way, it is great actually feeling blood run down to your toes rather than your knees pointing to the sky.
