Default Heritage bars on RKC?

ok, i know that at least a few people here have done it, so i have to ask; how do you like it? i am seriously looking at changing to the stock heritage bars on my 04 RKC, so that im not "reaching down" to the bars. i have a mustang seat installed which raised my seating position, so now i want to change the bars. heritage bars felt good on the heritage, and theyre only about 50 bucks, which is nice.

dealer wants $120+ to install the bars, so i will be doing it myself, anything i need to know ahead of time? i was told by the dealer that with the heritage bars i will not need to change cables....

any advice would be great!!!!

well, after some research, it looks like i might go with the road king high handle bars. that way, the pull back is the same, but they are the same height as the heritage bars. if i go with the heritage bars, i will lose 4 inches of pull back....hmmmm[&:]

Ice, you got a part number for those RK high bars. Guy at work was thinking of Heritage bars on his RK, or the bars off the RK Custom. He needs more pull back to help keep his back straight.

I replaced the stock bars on my 03 FLHRCI with a set of wide glide bars and they worked out great. The're about an inch higher the pull back is about the same but what i found to be great is the angle on my wrists the're much more comfortable.

mac, i saw that post, and i will be using it as a guide. thank you
i searched every handle bar thread on here, and that's where i came up with the idea of the road king high bars. part number for those bars is 55954-00
if you go to the harley web site, you can compare measurements on all handlebars.

my friend has an 05 rkc, and he just put heritage bars on his bike, so i'm going to go by his place to check it out today.

I put the Road King High Handlebars on my 04 FLHRCI and I love 'em. The hardest part of the job is removing the nalice to get to the clamps. Don't forget you'll have to replace the left side grip. I had custom grips on my stock bars, I had to buy a new set to replace the left grip ( it was worth it ).

well, it is complete. i went with the road king high handle bars, and so far, i like them. only had a chance to put about 15 miles on them thus far. i did not have to replace anything, i had custom grips on mine, and they are not glued on. the whole thing took less than an hour, and is pretty straight forward once you figure out how to get to the damn bar clamps.

savannah harley said it would take two hours of labor (we are talking professional harley mechs here) and little old me did it in less than an hour (having NEVER done this before)[:@]
