Default POV Bikes

Does anyone know what a "POV" bike is. These are HD bikes that usually become available at the end of a model year. They show up at the end of the model year in some large dealership show rooms. I have been told they might possibly be unsold bikes possibly from other dealerships, transferred in and if the "transferred to" dealership sells it. The allotment for that bike also transfers to the selling dealer for the next year. I bought a new Road King in 2006 that was a "POV" bike and the dealer gave me a free 7 year extended warranty with the purchase.

I always though it meant Previously Owned Vehicle, but what do I know. Maybe it was a POV by another dealer but never titled?

When I purchased it, there were 2 on the floor. Both had 0 miles and absolutely no problems getting it titled. No mechanical issues at all. As a matter of fact I sent in a request later to cancel the 7 year extended warranty and I received a check for $2000.00 for a warranty I paid nothing for.

Maybe you are right POV=Previously owned by another dealership. Never Titled to a Purchaser.

Like the other responder said, it may have be sold to a dealer and simply sat of the floor.

In the army, our POV was our privately owned vehicle, not a military vehicle. For example, as an officer, I sometimes got take my POV to the range, while the troops can in deuce and a halves. But, I'd bet a m/c POV is not the army's version of POV.

If it was previously owned it could not be sold as new. The dealer doesnt get title to the bike in thier name. U got me.

Without knowing more details I cannot be sure. But it sounds like bikes that were HD show bikes. They were bikes that you would see on the HD fleet of 18 wheelers that crisscross the country and are not allowed to be ridden but potential customers are allowed to touch, feel and mount the bikes. Sometimes you will notice that the bags in case of a bagger may have a few scuff marks from mounting and dismounting. They usually come into a dealership who has bid on these for the highest value and won the bid. They will usually have only 1 mile when received and then the dealership will inspect ,set-up and test ride which is usually required by law. They are usually very good deals and some dealers will throw in a warranty because depending on the state it ends up in the warranty may have run since they became part of the fleet which averages 18 months gone by the time they reach the dealership. I hope this clears it up some. Kinda confusing but they are good deals and no problem with the bikes. If anyone is interested I have an Ultra and an SE road king that can be had at greatSAVINGS. Please call me at 334 277-2540 and ask for Mack and I will be happy to tell you what I have in detail. THANKS.
