I just put proggresive 412 12" shocks on my EGC, and man, does it ride hard now. I was wondering if I couldn't retain SOME of the stock ride, yet still lower the bike a little. I know everything has a compromise, but I don't think I can handle this kind of beating too long. Any help? Thanks
well all I can say is this, I just pulled my stock 12" shocks and replaced with stock 13".--- the 12" shocks will not be going back on. The ride is better with the 13's and I am not a huge fan of the lowered look. I would use the 13's and get a lowering kit. just my 2 cents.
If you bought inexpensive shocks the first time, what do you think you are going to get with even less money. You are spending money to save money. Great shocks cost money. You will always get what you pay for. Do not be surprise if you have your hopes & pockets empty but the garbage can full.
12" shocks, GONE! They ride to hard when hitting imperfections in the road. I'm now running 13" stock Harley. I have a set of 440 (13") progressives with less than 1000 miles on them. Part# 4002-b/c (black chrome). If anyone is interested let me know. I'll give you a real good deal.
I installed the same 12" shocks two weeks ago on my 2003 Ultra. Couldn't be happier with the results. The shocks are made by Ultima ... same guys that build the hi-pro v-twins. I run 0 PSI with no fender rubbing. Worth every $$$.
Run1fsr: were you running the stock 13" air shocks before the switch or the H-D 12" lower profile shock? How does the bike handle with these Ultima shocks? The Progressives are a firmer shock but they tend to give the bike a better handling advantage whereas the stock H-D shocks can cause some wallowing in the rear end......
I replaced the stock 13" with the Ultima 12". Bike handles great, is not so top heavy and the wallowing is now gone. The Ultima shocks appear to be very good quality. I recommend giving them a try.
