Well, started on the 26G gear drive project this afternoon and am debating on whether or not to just use one of the maps included with the my SERT or seek a good tuner.
Any of you fellow Virginians (preferably northern/central VA) have anyone that you'd recommend? I had Skips tune my Springer and he squeezed some impressive numbers out of it but I'm not looking for a max number on the bagger, just a good healthy tune.
I had Skips tune my Ultra back in Dec '06 and I would NEVER go there ever again. My Ultra ran hot as hell. I had Will(before he worked at DD) retune it. He told me that it was tuned very lean to get high numbers. Also the other thing I didn't like about Skips is that you don't get an A/F ratio on your dyno sheet nor do you get a copy of your map. The overall price was cheap...I guess you get what you pay for. Now granted there are probably others that have had a positiveexperience usingSkips but not me.
aclass...that is a nice RG...great color...it looks just like mine...LOL
I contacted Skips a couple of weeks ago. He does not give a copy of the tune.[:@] If I'm spending $300 to $400 for a tune on my bikeI intend to get a copy of it.
I was told that all american harley in hughesville has a dyno. changed my mind about skips as well after hearing same thing about bikes being tuned lean. not sure if that is the case but just what i heard. if your just looking to get it tuned american iron horse in fredericksburg does a pretty good job without a dyno. I had adam tune mine back last summer and actually richened it up a little as it was running pretty lean from the factory.
Back in Dec 2006, Skip's was only charging $200 for a tune. Which is a great price butyou don't get A/F ratio and no copy of your map. They said the map is their property. Also they like to do SERT tuning not PCIII.Why do they like the SERT, because you cannot upload a copy of your map to a computer. That way you cannot give your map to your friend with the same set-up.
