I took my wife into the Harley dealer this past Saturday. She seen a bike with chrome switches and loved it. How difficult is it to make the black switches into the chrome switches? Is it just a matter of pulling them out of the housing and snapping them over the black switches? Or is there more to it?
The chrome switches are replacements for the black ones. Take out the black ones and replace with the chrome ones. Not difficult, but pay attention to where all the wires go when disassembling so you can get it all back together without pinching any ofthe wires in the switch housings.
..LOTSA TIME 4 THIS JOB .. IVE DONE A FEW..
IDE LET THE DEALER DO THIS FOR YOU UNLESS UR A GOOD WRENCH.
NOT AN EZ TASK. WORKING WITH SMALL SWITCHES.. POSSIBLE PINCHED WIRES.
NEXT TIME MY BIKE GOES TO THE DEALER.. ITS ONE JOB I WONT DO AGAIN
They are not caps, they are the actual switch buttons and can be a real pita on a touring bike. Not as bad as a ultra, that has more switches and wiring. If you are comfortable doing all the service on your bike, you probably can do it. If your not comfortable with regular service, don't try it, wires can get pinched and things can get broken. Mike
Thanks for the replies. My bike is at the dealers now getting ready to put on the Wild 1 575 bars, chrome switch housing, master cylinder, etc. I might as well add the chrome switches too. That will more then likely add another $100.00 to the bill
