You haven't been listening or paying attention all year.
HD and dealer won't do anything to fix it.
They will come back with it's normal or nothing wrong
and HD will claim you are lugging the engine.
Any repairs will come out of your pocket.

I ride in 5th allday long never a bit of noise have 07 st/gld and a 2 year warranty any rocks in the can and its a dealer fix
There are no fixes because there is nothing broken. There is a bit of "whine" in fifth gear due to the way the gears are cut and matched. It's not a problem. There is nothing to be fixed.
+1 on that comment. On '07's IDS fixed the clatter problems, but did little for the 5th-gear whine. I hardly notice it anymore.
In 2009 or later... all 08 owners will be making noises about the 08's fly by wire system... useless ambient tem guage... overheating...squeaking brakes...faring bracket breaks... and heaven forbid the ABS inops.. and oh yes... the IDS rubber thingies will harden and start breaking down, falling out...
THE IDS is just a drive system shock absorber which reduces the feedback from the rear wheel.... like the gell seat is for your *** and the gells in your shoes soles
Yes the list will go on and on... Harley makes improvements every year, well changes anyway. So it makes no difference what year you buy, there will always be problems and fixes but I hate the "my dogs bigger then your dog" attitude sometimes displayed here.
But then again, it's just an opnion so take it for what its worth (to you)... Just be cautious of the Forum Gods who's opnions are reveared!
For me the clatter disappeared with the addition of IDS, so it is a fix and I'm elated.
They don't have the ***** or honesty to stand up and admit that yes there was a noise problem in the tranny and give you guys a FREE repair.
They did acknowledge the noise problem as I talked to a tier-2 tech support rep twice at length about it. Since IDS eliminated the clatter problem, most of us are happy with the result, even if we had to shell out $200.
They knew you were all a bunch of lazy, no backbone panzies and that you would actually PURCHASE the product and they would make more money off you!
I'm not a panzy. A lazy pansy, maybe, and I certainly won't argue with "no-backbone." I know I have a backbone, though, as I feel it too often.
