I've had the issues right out of the door. Did nothing to the bike, was totally bone stock. All issues were only when HOT and prior to the 1000 mile maintenance interval. Told Dealer of issues. Hot idle was adjusted and not a SINGLE problem since!
I voted no issues, which is true now. I did have some of the stalling/popping issues, but with the CVO injectors and stage II download, my bike runs just fine. I've got the stock exhaust (plus the SE left side cat pipe) so that might have something to do with it. Don't know.
I plan on dyno tuning with the PC at the 1000 mile mark, just because I want to get all my money's worth out of the SE 1550 kit. Just wish it wasn't January right now, but I was able to put on 145 miles friday
06 Ultra with SE Air Filter, SE Pro mufflers and SERT all installed at time of delivery 2,000 trouble free miles. My dad also has a 06 Ultra with the same setup, he has 5,000 trouble free miles.
My 06 FTHT standard has only 300 miles (carb) but runs great. Bike is totally stock, motor wise. I just did an oil/filter change on the motor and adjusted the idle down to 1000rpm. Its sounds nice, idles nice, and generally runs great.
Wonder if the issues are mostly with the FI bikes?
From the get-go, my '06 FLHRCI made an unusual burping sound during decel. Irritating. Others talk about decel "popping" and "backfiring" but the sound I get is new to me. This bike is a mirror image of my '00 FLHRCI and my '04 FLHRCI and they made the normal "potato, potato" sound during decel.
To date: Changed out the Air Box, installed V&H slip-ons, did the 88 download, replaced that download with the 95 download. No change in the wierd sound. Miles today, approx 2,500.
Note: Riding side-by-side with another '06 FLHRCI which does not make the same sound.
Well, you've wasted probably $300.00 on the downloads when you could have gotten a SERT from Chicago Harley for $359.00. You can't do ANY tuning with either download you mentioned. The only way to tune your burping out is with a SERT or PCIII and probably a little dyno time.
I have an 06 wide glide. I havent had any issues but the only change I have made was for the recall. i would like to have it a little louder but I guess if it aint broke dont fix it.l
Thanks for the reply....... I guess. I just posted here to include my '06 in the poll.
I believe "wasting" is a relative term, depending on who is spending whose dollar and what he wants to spend it on. The Air Box cost me $109, the first download cost another $132, the second download and the following dyno tests are at the dealer's expense. I planned to install the Stage1 mod at any rate.
You sound like you have a handle on my problem from afar. So far, we're trying to work out the air/fuel mixture problem working from the ground up. If you don't mind being more specific other than suggesting the addition of a DFO, I'll pass your thoughts on to the techs working on my bike. Never can have too much good info.
