Default Dealer Changed His Tune..

A little while back I posted how my local Dealer was trying to beat me up on Labor and the price of a rear tire install.Long story short, some words were exchanged and I went down the road to have the work done at the Yamaha shop was treated nice and saved about $58.00. This morning I went back to the same Harley Dealer and talked with a different service guy and mentioned that I thought one of my front brake rotors were warped. They agreed and had the rotor it in stock. They replaced it and had me out the door in no time.I guess that some body must have put a Boot up some ones a$$,but they could not have been nicer. So I guess that if you do have a beef with a Dealer you need to bring it to their attention and hope it does not fall on Deaf ears..Ride Safe & Shoot Straight

Sometimes it helps to let them know what's wrong. You can't fix it if you don't know it'sbroken.

Dealer I've had problems with their service dept. has alot of people upset.
During bike week I heard lots of people sitting on their porch, where the run was to start, talking about how they'll never go back there again for service, or to buy a bike again, cause that dealerwon't honor the service/warranty agreement.
One of the other dealerships is smart enough to pick up the warranty and take the customer right away from them.
I hear the money is in the service afterward, so the dealership that is chasing them away is really burning themself. Nobody will be dealing with them for parts and/or service, and eventually sales, and the other guy is just raking it in, and getting all the good publicity.
I wonder how much longer they'll stay in business, or more to how soon they'll fold cause of the shi++y service department. The sales people can be nice and friendly, but the service dept lead tech is an as$hole and ruins if for the rest of his team, and the way I see it is if the owner wants to let him stay and run it that way, then he's the chief problem for all of his team. I won't deal with them anymore. I'll ride 20 miles to the guys I get along with for a $5 part (yes, contrary to hd meaning hundreds of dollars, there really are some inexpensive parts you can buy there[:-]).

These guys better change not only their tune, but there instruments and arranger also.

from what i heard, HD has been taking a hit in the customer service department. so to "improve" the image, they have been doing surveys and mailers to most of the customers. most shops are independatly owned, but to keep their franchise, they must score high on customer service, shop cleanliness and other pionts. i think this is good for the brand, but is it to little to late? i used to go to a shop in charlotte NC, which was awesome, and after each service i got a call from a survey company. if i reponded negitively to a question, the service manager had a call into me the next day or so. have not yet stopped into the shop in raleigh where i live now, but am planning to swap the cams to gear drive. a local shop here will do it all for about$1100, while the stealer wants $1600.... i think i am going to the indy.

I usually try to be nice at a dealer as you never know when you might need them.
But when you catch them red handed padding the bill, then I get upset and I'm not
quiet about it.
I've found most dealer don't give a damn what you think of their pricing, because they know another fool is coming in behind you and will pay their bloated pricing.
I wanted to do big bore and cams on my 06 EGC this winter.
His pricing was $600 higher than Zanottis for parts.
Told him bring the price down some on the parts and he could do the whole job this winter.
He refused, so he lost the whole $3600 for the job.
He didn't care.
But if more people would do this, then the prices might come down for all of us.

This has become a problem in all industries, look at the automobile industry for years they sat back treated people like crap and built a less than quality car. Now that foreign manufactures are kicking their asses they care about the customer and the products they build.
CSI is the buzz word and all manufactures are grading their dealers on this. I have seen quite a few auto dealers sold in the past 12 months for performance reasons, it won't be long before HD is doing the same thing. I just wish that some of these boneheads would wake up and smell the coffee..if they don't they maybe working the check out line at the local grocery store. It's forums like this that let us know where and where not to spend are hard earned dollars.

Moody service people suck, They should know better. It's a people business, even if youhave to fake it. There is a limit though.

I got tired of the answers I was getting from the dealer and I called HD corporate. I was tired of hearing what is a MP3?
I got results and a follow up from a nice lady in HD. She called the dealer and then called me back when I was on my way to pick up my bike.
