Hate ta tell ya, but thar jest ain't no way. Chrome is an applied metallic surface that is done in a multi-stage electro-chemical process.....Krylon ain't gonna git it.

Take off the part, have it sandblasted and powder coat it black!

Or rechrome it. Might be just as cost effective (and faster) to simply replace it.

No touching up chrome. take a look at the cost to replate versus new and go that route. Sorry.

I was afraid that was going to be the answer.. The chip is on the underside of a muffler. I might just clean it and put some silver paint on it. Just to keep the metal dry.

Chrome cannot be touched up. It must be replated.

I agree with the others in that chrome can't be fixed easily.

However, since it's on the underside of a muffler, you could try some of the "chrome" touch up paints available at auto stores. It probably won't work really well, but it might be worth a try.

I've used this paint on a couple of gas pumps that I've restored. It worked fairly well, just don't look too close.

I think it would be better than silver paint, imho. An easy thing to do until you decide to replace the muffler.

Good luck!

The paint I have is actually a chrome paint for models. I have it on the plastic blanks that fit in the chrome control covers on the handle bars. Has held up pretty good so far.
