I have Wiley X with transition lenses... they don't get very dark, but I actually like that about them. They get dark enough to take the strain off of your eyes but don't make a sunny day look like a cloudy one like my Oakleys. The foam fits great and they have held up through a lot of abuse (thrown randomly in the saddle bags etc...). I say they are very worth the price and when I compared to Panoptix, I thought the quality of materials was a lot better.

There is nothing better than "prescription ground polarized lenses". (ask an optition)Transition lenses do not provide the same protection as polarized. I can really tell the difference between the two. I know that "ray ban" quality polarized lenses do not even compare to a prescription ground lens. I don't know how the newer, higher end, off the shelf polarizedlenses mightcompare to prescription ground polarizedlenses.
I read somewhere that polarized glasses were not recommended for motorcycle use. Apparently since the polarization eliminates glare, the rider may miss an oil slick or some ice.
Hadn't thought about that. If I am outside with the sun shining, I am wearing my polarized glasses. I have never noticed that I didn't see something, just the opposite as a matter of fact. I am not sure I buy into that theory.

Prescription Wiley X for $80?
I have $600 prescription ground UVA/B, polorized with Teflon scratch resistant coating. The reduced eye strain and no glareor phantom shadowsactually helps me identify road hazards.
When I did a Superman face first into a roadside burm (sp?) the lenses took a serious scratching but they held together. (Insurance paid for new lenses).
I wouldn't mind alternatives to Optomatrist prescription sun glasses.

I used to just take my old Oakley frames in and have a script tossed in at Eyemartevery few years. They told me this winter they wouldn't do that any more (no explaination given). I just had 'em make me a cheesy pair of black shades.

I had also wanted to get a set of Wileys for nite (with transition lenses) but a buddy had a kindabad experience with them when they got a script wrong (all sales are final kinda thing). I'm a bit leery to order stuff like that online anyhow.

But speaking of Oakley, I hadn't been to their site in awhile. This cracked me up today:

http://oakley.com/pd/2035

(silly leather cap = $500)
(snap-on eye wear = $250)
(some moron actually buying and *wearing* that thing in public = priceless)

I made my own version of that Oakley stuff when I went to Jamaica... it was a rasta hat with fake dreadlocks and some snorkeling goggles. Did I mention I was 12 at the time?
Thanks for the laugh![sm=roll.gif]
