[>:] my 01 road kings idle drops 100,200 rpm after i adjust it.i have a DFO, k&n air cleaner & true duals.I replaced intake gaskets & engine temp sensor, whats next?
to do it right you're supposed to use a breakout box and measure the voltage on the
two pins called for. This voltage must be precise.
If you don't have a break out box, you can use two needles slipped in parallel to the pins called
for, on the ECM connector. ecm pins 16 & 30 and ground. With a digital volt ohm meter
YOu say you followed the procedure outlined in the HD service manual 99481-01
on pages 9-30 & 31?
Mine does the same thing. If I don't reset the computer it will get down past 800 rpm's in about a month of riding. While I was doing my cam chain tensioners I noticed that the Idle Control runs a lever that kicks the linkage in & out. I think I might try taking it loose all the way so that the idle screw sets the throttle body @ 1000 rpms then reinstall the IC and clear it all. If that don't work I may find a way to do a manual adjustment somewhere other than the idle screw.
What is the DFO? I think my manual says to disconnect the Idle Control, set the idle and then disconnect the battery, then plug the IC inand reinstall the battery. It's been probabbly a year that I did it last. Every once in awhile I disconnect the battery, and it raise the idle back up. Maybe there is an adjustment for the IC that I am not doing. I will look at my manual on Sat.
