Default Problem with gas "starvation"

Recently had a factory rebuilt engine installed in my 1997 Electra Glide Ultra Classic - Fuel Injection, and we took it out yesterday (temperature 9Celsius) stalled at lights, started after 5th try, kept going and then start spluttering on highway, stalling and jump starting by inself. Cleared up after a few jolts and then repeated the same thing in about 40 kms. and then again after another 50 kms for a few more times. I was at half a tank so topped up and put in some stabilizer and then seemed to do the trick. Then tonight took it out, and after about 40 kms the same thing, this time happened 3x within 10 blocks. Anyone experienced this before? I have to take it in for the 1600 kms oil change in about 1 month, but would like to sort this out before then. Some suggestions have been that it is a fuel injection problem, or fuel filter problem in the gas tank. I am also looking for a HD manual for my bike.[&o]

Drain ALL fuel, clean/replace filter, fill with fresh gas. That eliminates one potential cause.

When it stallsopen the gas cap and see if you hear air rushing in the tank. You could have a blocked vent. Did you change the gas cap?? I'm not sure if you have a fuse or Circuit breaker for your fuel pump, also check all your grounds or "earths" as you guys call them. Check all other connections as well.

thanks for the suggestion to drain all fuel and check filter - we are total "newbies" and in our bike manual there isn't even an indication as to where the filter may be located. Are you referring to fuel injection filter or gas line filter??? Any suggestions for good repair/troubleshooting manual for bike?
Many thanks

Hi John thanks for your response. As you may have read from our previous reply we are soooo new to this arena, but willing to research and learn. We are looking for a repair manual for the bike (in Canada) and so far no luck. Will have to order one which will take a few weeks to arrive from the U.S. Any experience to compare Clymer manual with HD manual (other than huge price difference!)

My 2002 HD manual shows a fuel filter canister inside the fuel tank. ??? New gasoline mixtures don't have the stabalizer that the old stuff had. It can go bad in a couple of months. TRY FRESH GAS!

Why wouldn't you take it back to the people who put the engine in it right now instead of later

Call your dealer and ask have anybody else had this problem. Also have the bike been seating long with gas in the tank?
