Thanks all. I was probably most concerned with the weight, I wishit had reverse, like the Goldwings have. I not willing to fork out the dough, for it yet. I have already taken the Honda rider training class, and I also have the ride like a pro DVD, I also recommend the Proficient Motorcycling books.

If you've never ridden one before...I know it's little but it's the signal light switches. The first one I rode was in 85... Friend told me to take it for a ride. Figured out left, but I had no idea the right switch was on the right side.

I came back and told him it didn't work..........Should have seen the look on my face when he reached for the throttle.[sm=headbang.gif]

I rode Sporties for a long time (being an old fart and all) and finally decided to get a bagger. The biggest challenge that I encountered was getting the bike out of the lot. The riding position had me flumoxed. The Sporty position is more over your feet while the Road King Custom is a more feet forward postion. I found out that the guys in the dealership were taking bets about me making it home. A couple of blocks down the road and I started to get comfy with the new position. After a couple of break in riding weeks I hopped on the Sportster and it felt foreign with its feet position and rams horn style handlebars compared to the RKC's beach bars. I sold the Sportster to my neighbor. I really like the tourers riding position better now that the rheumatiz is kicking in. YMMV.

I went from an '02 Honda 1100 spirit to an '05 Road Glide..... the RG is a good 200 pounds heavier, and the seating is more in line with a "standard" Dunno about the C-50 but good GOLLY the RG has some honking brakes, horse power to weight? about what I'm used to... more has some serious snot up on the cams..... I found the biggest stumble for me...... was the turn indicators..... left thumb for left... right thumb for right... I still find myself trying to use the honda's turn signals... LOLOL.... oh? and for some unGODLY reason... I keep reaching down to turn off the bike....but then I guess 20 years of keys being under my leg, has had it's effect on me

Congrats on your new ride. Your not the only one to buy unridden. I too just bought my first Harley. I hope to pick up my 08 EGC in the next few weeks. I've ridden various bikes over the years, but switched to boats about 10 years ago. The boat has a big"FOR SALE" sign on it (under the 8 inches ofsnow from yesterday) and I can't wait to do what Pappy said. I will take a course to brush up. Being a paramedic for the last 30 years has taught me that being safe means being smart. You guys have all been really helpful to a new HD owner. This site is a wealth of info for a guy like me. Thanks.
