Are we kind of limited as far as what units are sturdy enough to be mototcycle mounted? It seems that the TomTom and the Garmin Zumo are the only 2 that are motorcycle specific? I'm just starting to look into this and would appreciate any input.
Not really true, You can still find Garmin 2610 (which I got refurbished) and the 2720. Both made for the the bike (waterproof). You can get these refurbished normally for under $300.00.....
I was able to play with some of the Garmins today but they didn't have a 550. All seemed really easy to use. Couldn't get the TomTom to even turn on and there were no salespeople available to assist.
The Garmin Quest 2 is a motorcycle type andis the same unit HD flogs and 100's cheaper! It's good but I would go with the Zumo if I had to do it all over again.

Exactly what I did. Picked one up on Ebay for $204.00 Shipped. Used the Garmin mount but adapted it to mount using the mirror mounting hole on my Street Glide. Works out great and won`t brake the bank.
Ijust pulled the trigger and purchased the zumo 550 20 minutes ago.Every body seems to like the zumo the only thing i didn't care for was the price $629.00
amazon has the Zumo 450 for $529, its like the 550 but without the Bluetooth and XM capability, I don't use those features anyhow. Its another option if you want to save a couple bucks and don't care about those features.
