SE will somewhat hold a resale for a riding season, maybe 2. After that, you will struggle to get a decent price.

Interesting comparison. Saw an 05 SE Ultra Saturday at the dealer (in for 10K service). The guy I was talking to offered the owner 25K on the spot for it. Bike was 33K new. At 25 now, thats, about 24-25 % less. My 05 RKC (similar milage)cost 21K including everything I added. It's now worth 14K (or less) or 33% less.
The 05 SE Ultra is about the best looking Harley I have ever seen (IMHO)

I would guess that it depends on whose buyin'? As we know, everything is only worth as much as you can get out out of it, and what hyou're willin' to take for it, etc.

The true value of anything. Is what you can get for it on a cold rainy Friday night and you have to get out of town in a hurry.

KBB and NADA are a national average of values allowed for trade and resale as reported by dealers across each region and the nation.

The dealer told you that to help you buy it. ask him to put it in writting such as an agreed trade value at 1, 2, 3, 4 years. To find out the real value, ask you insurance company how much it is worth after ????? or get an agreed replacement value insurance policy.

I have an agreed replacement value policy, my bike is worth more wrecked, stolen etc.. than I can get selling.

Sorry to say it but your bike is only worth what someone is willing to pay you, when you want to sell your bike. With somepeople about to loose thier job or home bike prices are in the tank. Worse yet if you try to trade it in at the stealer. Cash is king ,the buyers and the stealers know
it!!!!!!!!

I've purchased 2 used Harley's in the last 2 years. I have a 2001 Fatboy that I have way too much money into to ever think about getting it back out of it. Fortunately,I have saved most of the the take off parts wrapped and boxed either to sell on the side or put back on if I sell the bike. I really don't plan on ever selling it beacuse It is exactly the bike I've always wanted. I got a 2000 Road Glide late last year for a real good price.I have started doing some things to but do not plan on doing too much to itexcept riding. I guess my point is that I bought my bikes to ride and enjoy and don't really worry about resale value. The days of the high resale value and waiting lists are over, the moco has seen fit to ruin that deal. Who can blame them for wanting to sell motorcycles. The good news is that they appear to bottom out around $8000-$10000 so most of us will only lose about 1/2 the value of the bike. When's the last time you saw an old shovel in decent condition for less that $8000.00. The other thing to think about is what happens when all the bikes are water cooled, I think the air cooled models will spike in value.

I look at it this way.

When you buy a bike you have a resale value for the bike as it is.
When you add bling orperformance to make the bike your own - That is money gone. What you add is worth it to you. But, it's not worth it to anyone you might sell the bike too.

Some of those things come with the Screamin Eagle version. In resale you will get some of that back Vs. not getting anything back on your add-ons.
