I have EZ Pass issued from NH. Mine is mounted under my fairing about 4" down from the top dirctly over my radio. It is directly under the eagle on my fairing in the pic.
I tried a NY EZ-Pass with a handlebar mount on my RKC last summer. Big No Go. Never registered. Took it off the bike and sent it back. Figured, what's the point if the reader does not recognize it.
Probably going to request another one this summer and try throwing it in the fairing pouch this time. Maybe I just had two bad units. (Mine on the RKC and my wife had one on her Heritage Softail Classic. Neither of them worked for us.)
illinios went to open road tolling didnt take us long to figure out that the cameras cant read the plates if u got the tour pack kit that moves it back a few inches
In illinois we have I-Pass and I don't even take it with me on the bike. I have the license linked to the account, and they check the plates as I drive thru. They look up the records and they mark the transaction a V-Toll (Video Toll) and no extra charge, but they said they will charge fees if there are excessive V-Tolls. I don't ride the tollway that often, so I don't worry about it too much. I checked online and I can see 20-30 V-Tolls with my bikes license so I know its working.
Here in Texas it's simply called a "Toll Tag" issued by the NTTA (North Texas Toll Authority). No fancy names like you guys in other states have.
That said, the tags (hunk of plastic about the size of a credit card with a chip inside) don't cost anything (no monthly surcharge or fee), so I have one on each of our vehicles and only remove the one on the bike since it's mounted with velcro to the inside of the windshield just above the fairing. I have velcro on both of my windshields, so the tag can be mounted regardless of which shield I'm using.
Quick on, quick off (and into the vest pocket) when stopping anywhere. If I accidentally leave it at home or something, the NTTA has the license plate for each tag on file and simply charges it to the appropriate tag.
i ve been using ez pass for 4 years i velcro it to the underneath of my right side saddle bag cover in the same direction you would use in a car.i have hard bags.ez pass never fell off the cover into the saddle bag nor did i ever miss a toll
