It's up high on the left side of the steering neck. Sorry don't have a pick right now.
And no it still isn't overly accurate. But that's not really an issue. It simply shouldn't be there, accurate or not. I can decide for my self if I need a jacket or not, I don't need any help from HD on that one. It should have been anOIL TEMPERATURE gauge.
Yeah, but if HD can't produce and install an ACCURATE simple outdoor thermometer,
Then you need to ask yourself, how accurate is their OIL TEMP gauge.
I wouldn't buy it from HD!
I would go aftermarket!!

What is reasonably accurate?
2 degrees off, 5, 15 ???
I agree it is basically useless.
Except for those of us that ride in cold weather. It could help determine if air temp is actually
cold enough for moisture to freeze on road surface.
well, it could it if the damn thing was accurate!

I have an 08 UC, air temp guage seems reasonably accurate.....rather useless, but reasonably accurate.

msn.com home page, set it up for your city, weather is on main, page tells you what the outside temp is within an hour and forcast for the whole week!
I usually just go outside to see if its to cold to ride. Look at the street in front of my house to see if there is ice on the road.
Ive riden when it was 3* out so I c geuss I havent found it to be to cold yet!
BTW did you give up on the 5th gear Iam a whiner thread?

I plan at some point on getting the HD oil temp gauge I dont feel that there will be an issue with accuracy. I believe the reason that the ambient air temp gauge is "inaccurate" is simply because it is picking up heat from the bike skewing the actual outdoor air temp. I do however feel that it is reading the air temp correctly for its location. Does that make things all better NO, but it does make me believe that when I get an HD oil temp gauge that it will be just fine.
