I've rode bikes all my life and will continue to as long as god lets me breath , my dad is 75 , we still love to go riding and also my mom rides still on the back , he does ride a trike but the love is still there , my mom had a stroke and my dad sold is 2 wheels and bought 3 whelels i'm sure he'll ride till the end !!!!!!
Lot of factors here. My dad stopped riding when he dumped his bike with my mom on the back in a gravel driveway. No one was hurt except his pride. He was only about 65 then but his body and mind has aged quickly since he retired.
On a brighter note... back in my sport bike days I used to ride with a guy that was 75+ and road a Ducatti. I couldn't keep up with him with his full leathers dragging his knee in every turn.
Goes to show you that you are only as old as you think you are!
In the mid-90s when I was riding a Yamaha Royal Star, and riding with the Local Gold Wing Road Riders we had an 86 year old who would ride his Wing to Florda a couple times a year (from Wyoming). One time he got in a minor wreck about halfway inbetween....bike was ok, but he broke a couple ribs....the doc at the hospital gave him some pain medication...he asked the doc if it would make him drowsie....the doc said most likely, so he stuck them in his pocket and told the doc he will take them when he gets to Florida. A couple years later I was in an MSF ERC course and he was taking the course again (for about the 8th time). I'm only 56 and a young pup by his standards....but I want to age like him.
Met a guy, whose daughter is married to a navy guy, He was 62 last year when i met him, he rode from Ga to WA on a sporty 1200. he is still going strong, want to upgrade to a street. my buddy's dad is mid to late 70's still riding his 04 Ultra, 2 years ago rode from PA to sturgis.
