Default Flames on the Road King

I have an 05 FLHRI Road King and I see many Road Kings with the flames on the fenders and gas tank. How much does this usuaaly cost? What should you consider when doing this?

You first have to decide if you want something permanent. Remember if you decide to ever sell your bike, someone else may not like the paint work.

Go to cyclegraphics.com I have used their product and it is excellent. They have flags to flames. The product goes on without glue, all you need is a hair dryer. You can take them off when ever you want and reappply when you want.

Hope this helps.

It all depends on Who you have paint it - there are many great painters out there that are somewhat unknow and will do you a great job at a decent price, then you can find painters with a "Name" that will cost you an arm and a leg - but you will have the bragging rights that "so & so" painted my bike - also be aware that a painter may give you a promise then you will find that your sheet metal is sitting for Months waiting for paint "ask questions first" If you are in the Northen CA area, I can put you with a good guy that will not rape you in the $$$$ and get it done in record time. Ask at your local HD shop - do your homework and get something a little different...

Personally I think the most tastefull flames are simple pinstripe flames, you could do it yourself with a cheap pinstripe brush & lots of practice with some pinstripe size tape layed out how you want it on your tins, my$ .02

Check out local Hot Rod Clubs. Usually there's someone in the group that has a contact with a pinstriper. Locally there is a guy at the community college that teaches it and he could pinstripe flames on a bike for a heck of a lot less than a custom shop. In some cases he may take your bike on as a 'demo' and use it to teach new students. The results may be the same but the price will be a lot less.

Good luck.

I have also used cyclegraphic on my previous bikes. No problems, cheap and looks like paint. If you get tired of the look you can change it.
