Default Fender Tip Light - Wire?

Howdy all. So I'm getting pretty antsy waiting for some rideable weather here in Cleveland, and since none is in sight yet, decided to take on some projects on the bike. She's an 01 Road King Classic. Today's project is wiring up the front fender tip light. When I got the bike, it was disconnected - no wire run at all. The question is - what size/kind of wire do I get & where the heck do I get it?

I've been to the 2 largest electrical supply shops and no one has anything that seems like it'd serve the purpose. It has to be relatively small, be black, since it's going to be exposed - and contain 2 conductors inside of it. Almost everything I've found so far is too thick - like the size of your average magic marker - or, the wrong color (phone wire in white or gray). Yes, I can probably get black wrap, but I'd rather use just one piece of black wire.

Surely there is something out there that's perfect for the job, no? Any ideas/suggestions (besides leaving it disconnected of course )

Thanks!

Hi sknyfats

I'm doing the same thing right now. What I will do is to take the cable from on off my "notusedanymore" cell phone chargers. I have at least three old ones to choose from. And they are all black, thin, and have 2 conductors inside.

Best regards

The fendertip light on my Ultra comes out through a grommeted hole and the wiring attaches via zipties and runs along with the left brake cable and up into the bottom of the fairing. Looks to be about 18awg. All you would have to do is run it the same way and into the nacelle.

HD sells that wire as a kit, paired wires cut to the right length, with connectors installed and covered with shrink tubeing. Just tell the parts guy you need the wire for a Road King. Save the RK Classics dont have a light argument!

Hi sknyfats

I'm done with mine now. And after3 blown fuses I realised that I only needed the+ wire. Ground (-) goes thru the metal in the fender. I'm not an electrician, and I relly don't understand how the circuit can be closed since the fender tip mount is all made of plastic. But on my bike it was enaugh with only one cable.
