I also use the short AutoZone antenna on my Street Glide. $5.95!

I cut both my CB and radio antennas about 8 inches to clear my garage. Both work well, and the CB preforms fine, no loss of reception or transmitting problems.

Got the rubber ones (FM and CB) from Renocycles...the CB antenna sucks! My stock whips gave me a CB range of about 2 miles...the rubber is literally useless beyond less than a 1/4 mile (and at speed of oncomig and me pulling away in the other direction talking to traffic, it lasts 10 seconds. Goin' back to the stockers...at least I can use the CB!

nmfxstc,
Thanks for the info. You just saved me a few bucks. I was going to buy the same antenna's from Reno Cycles. I will keep the stockers and just bend them over and clip into the saddlebag handle when it is needed.

Bought a 12" rubber antenna from PeP Boys auto parts. Works great, costs $9.95, threads fit my SG perfect!
It also looks great.

mickeymax....I stick the whips between the backrest and saddle (rider's) using a piece of 1/4" rubber over the top 2" of the whip when parked.

Sorry about the shorties, but I did everything I could to try to tune the CB antenna and no joy at all...SWR was 3.4:1 and the stock whips were 1.9:1 and worked a lot better....can't argue with performance...I like the look, but if that radio doesn't trans/receive...WTF?

I cut the radio antenna one fourth of it's entire length at the ball tip end. I looks good and does not effect the performance of my radio. I also cut the CB antenna down to the same size since I never use the CB. The reason I cut the radio antenna and used a quearter of it is, because of wavelength. The twin shorties look great.
