I trailered my bike from Ohio to Hilton head 2 weeks ago and rode to Florida from there. I was on I-95 just south of Jacksonville and had the cruise set at 80-81. The traffic kept going past me so I kept bumping up the cruiseto keep up with the flow. I was running about 84-85 and went down a small hill after a bridge, the speed picked up a little and when it hit about 86mph the cruise shut off. I reset it at 84-85 and the next bridge itI crossedthe bike sped up a little and the cruise shut down again. The traffic was still going past me at slow rate and I would have gone a little bit more but had to set it at 83-84 sosmall increases didn't shut it down.I stopped at DaytonaHarley shop and the service writer said all cruises shut down at 85??? WTFand Why?? Oh well had a good trip and the wife said 85 is fast enough. I said I wanted more just because I could, traffic was light and flying. We ran about 100 miles like that. At one point a Sherriff came up behind me (never saw him till he was right behind me) he moved to the left lane pulled up beside me, looked at me, punched it and went on by. Itfelt great to run like that!! No way can you do that in Ohio state troopers are all over
On 95 they usually don't bother you up to 10 mph over. Figure the 3 to 4 mph optimistic error in your speedo, & that's about what you were doin'. The only catch is that if they're runnin' a speed trap they may pull you for that extra 1 mph over the grace. Congratulations on the good luck & welcome to Florida!
Manual states that cruise control does not work at speeds below 30 or above 85, and that the system will allow the rider to increase speed up to 10 mph above the set speed(but not above 85). Why? "They" decided that was safe.

Cruise worked just as it was designed to. Won't operate above 85. Check your owners manual and it wil explain the min./max speed features of the cruise control.

Sorry I'll have to agree with the lady........You're in Florida in March......Kick back and enjoy the sites, but get off the Interstate to start with. [sm=shades.gif] The cruise sounds fine. Just my .02
Yep..I was one of the unlucky one's who got nailed in Sanford for 1 mile over the grace. I was doing 11 over. Never heard of getting a ticket for 11 over in FL....especially when one was as polite as I was that night.
