Default Survey Says???

Ok,

Lets hear it from you RD King Custom & Classic riders.

What do you like least about your bikes (other than the stock handle bars & stock seats)?

What do you like the most about em?

Looking at purchasing a used King, probably an 07. Have found a few possibilities allwith less than 3000 miles on em.

Oh yea, one more thing what is this IDS(?) or ISD(?) I keep seeing on the board here?

Thanks folks!

I have the Classic, I love it. White walls & leather bags, can strip off the windshield and cruise around town. Add a tour pack for long hauls. The only thing I didn't like was no music...cured that with lowers and speakers for my i-pod. When I bought the King I was also looking at the SG..great looking bike, but, imho it just looked too stripped of chrome to me.

I have an 03 RK Classic and looked at all the models before deciding on the Classic. Of course Iimmediately went to a sundowner seat and reachback bars. I love the leather look bags and ability to strip off the windshield. I I do not care for the non-locking bags, even tried a couple locking mechanism but none worked as advertised. Also did not like having to undo the straps all the time, so I modified the bags so I don't. I determined that I like long rides so I replaced the spoke wheels and tubewhite walls with chromed SG wheels and solid black tires. I use a ZUMO with ear plugs for music and directions on the long rides. Also have riders back rest and tour pak for those trips. Great ride. But I am sure they all are. Good luck!!

Love my 06 Classic. Changed to Chubby's bars and a Sundowner seat. Also went with an Opod with bullet turn signal speakers and Inertia WRX locks on my bags - they work great. Went to D&D Fatcats, Wild Things cams with gear drive, Screaming Eagle Heads, larger induction unit and a Powercommander to up the ante to 115 hp and 108 ft/lbs torque.

The bike is versatile, comfortable now and don't have to downshift when 2-up and passing.

I love everything about it sans the handlebars as you mentioned. Changed out the bars to the reduced reach bars from HD. We did send the seat out to Mean City and had it memory foamed. We just got that back a week ago and haven't been able to try it out yet due too much snow here in Michigan. You will not regret a Road King.

I have a RK Custom, and they only made them from 04 to 07.
Like the Bike a lot put a sundowner seat and detachable back
rest for the wifeto make her comfortable on long rides. I am
thinking of putting 103 kit on, that not to say i am not happy
with the 96 incher in it. We live in Nevada at 4500 feet and
goes up from here in to the mountains so I need a little more
torque. Made one adjustment on the bars, i also put heated
hand grips on bars so I am stuck with the semi beach bar for
now. You can't use six gear below 60-65 MPH, but runs great
at 70-75 two up. It's a KEEPER.

I have an '08 RK Classic and love it. I have the sundowner seat, detachable tourpack & passenger backrest as well. With just over 3000 miles on her, I am just settling in on longer rides. I have noticed that my back starts to bother me after a couple of hours and I am thinking I need different handle bars and a riders backrest.

Overall I love my RK Classic. Down sides are high maintenance for the saddlebags, the spokes make me nervous on long trips across the desert (hard to fix a flat), seat/bars you mentioned (easy fix), atleast with 07, your going to need to tune it. Lastly, there are times I wish I had tunes. Up sides... hey, Its Good to be King! These scoots are the bomb. Classic has cruise, 15 seconds the shield is off and you have an ultra cool boulevard cruiser. Shield up, its a comfortable cross country bike that still reminds you its a motorcycle. Looks can be tailored but are classic. Beleive me, the King gets noticed if your looking for that. Great rides.

I have a 05 RKC and really love the bike.I've not changed the bars yet,but I do have another seat we use for trips.Down side is the worry about flats with the spoke wheels. But I do love the looks of the spokes.

As they say,

Ask and you shall receive

Great feedback guys, The WG I have now has the spokes, and I agree, quite the P.I.A. to clean. However, having said that, the Cruise Control on the Classic is really attractive.

It's tough trying to decide between the Custom and the Classic.
If memory serves me right, I think the Custom sits a bit lower than the Classic which if true, is a good thing, (for me). Also, the wheels on the custom would seem to be easier to keep clean.

About those saddle bags,,, what works best on keepin them looking good?

Drewman,,, where at in Michigan are you?
