Default Hooking up Road Tech Radio

Hi All,

Been working on my '05 RKC and decided to add the road tech radio and the MP3 player. Well I'm just about finished but have come to the part where I need to splice the orange/white wire from the radio harness into the accessory circuit. I'm not quite sure how to go about doing this? Has anybody hooked up the radio and what did you do or what would you recommend doing? I did some looking and came across part #70270-04 - I don't really know if this is way to go either? My local dealer doesn't even have it in stock so I can't go pick it up and find out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I had the same dilema when I hooked up the Road Tech on my '05 RKC, what I did is hook up the orange/white wire to the left toggle switch as it is unused. This gives me the option to turn the radio power off/on even if the ignition switch was in the accessory position. However, after I did that I discovered that Harley has a switched circuit adapter harness that will plug in to the accessory switch harness under the seat. You can then splice into that instead of hacking into your factory harness. The part number is 70264-94A and runs $14.95. There is no picture on the HD website but if you have the 2006 accesories and parts catalog it is on page 494, Item E.

Hope this helps

Just thought I'd follow up in case anybody else was interested in hooking up the road tech radio.

I did get part #70264-94A and spliced the orange wire into that then connected it to the accessory connector under the seat. With the 2-1 harness, you also have the other end available for future use.

This was much easier then messing with the main harness! It is also controlled by the accessory switch on the forks so you can turn it on or off with that switch as needed.

Thanks dapster for the recommendation!
