Default Soft lowers (RG) comparo?

im looking to buy some soft lowers for the RG, HD sells them for less than $40, and other after market companies sell them foro $75 up to $165.. is a couple of pockets worth that much extra, or do they really work that much better, who can tell me something on this......i mean not often you find MOCO parts for less than aftermarket...

I have the cheapo HD ones. They are pleather with snaps. Work great in the rain and cold. Easy on and off. I like them.

I think the more expensive ones are either real leather or a nylon type material. I think they use velcro to attach as well. They will probably last a little longer, but the cheap ones have done well for me so far.

I have the nylon ones and they do a great job. Your feet and legs will not get cold. I been riding in the 30's and hadno problem. On and off in a minute.

I have a pair from Chilhowee leather made from bull hide with a pocket on each one, man it kakes all the difference riding in cold or wet weather and they fold up and don't take to much space in the bags. the pockets really come in handy for extra gloves, socks, etc.

I've been using the HD nylon ones 58525-95A since '99 on two different bikes every winter. They work great dont see a need for pockets, you've got saddlebags.

I have been using the HD leather looking soft lowers for several years now and they have seved me well but pockets would be nice on occasion although I can live without them.

I have a set of Desert Dawgs from eglidegoodies.com and found that they did a good job and (most importantly) looked good because they fit better than the HD products. The pockets were a little redundant, but gave the lowers some added stiffness that helped them maintain their shape on the bike. The soft lowers do a good job of protecting your feet from the rain and cold, and are a low cost alternative to the hard lowers. I have since listed them on eBay because I have found a set of hard lowers that I am purchasing.

I have the cheap snap-on HD lowers.Used them one time and took them off. Most of my riding is at highway speeds and I found the wind resistance was too great with the soft lowers on. Probably a decrease in MPG also.

They do work in keeping the wind off your legs and are, IMO, good for riding around town at lower speeds.
