Default Radio Shack siren help?

Trying to hook up the Radio Shack Siren on a 2007 FLHX.

The three wires are a brown/pruple stripe, green/brown stripe, and black/green stripe.

I hooked the red wire from the siren to the brown/purple wire and the black wire from the siren to the green/brown wire. The siren worked like it should the first few times I tried it but now all I get is a dull continuous sound when the siren is activated.

If I hook the red wire from the siren to the brown/ purple and the black wire from the siren to the black/green the siren sounds like it should but runs all the time.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me. I'm electrically challanged

Are you sure you've found the right wires? Is it disarmed? Could it be "on" all the time because the alarm is activated?

It sounds like your first connectionmight becorrect. My notes, however, say the red wire goes to the brown with a light stripe. I don't recall that it was purple.
The connector you're using is behind the ecm, right?

You sure it was the right plug? Should be three wires only going to that plug. If you look close you will see that the wires are numbered 1,2, and 3. Try the red alarm wire to the 1 hole and the black alarm wire to the middle or number 2 hole. I think the third hole is for the Harley pager.

Thanks for the help. I think I had it right the first time. (red wire from the siren to the brown/purple wire and the black wire from the siren to the green/brown wire).

Like I said, the alarm worked fine the first few times that a tried it. What I don't understand is that it actually acts like it drains the battery after it is sounded a few times to the point where the alarm doesn't sound right or as loud.

I started the bike and took it for a short ride and when I parked it and tried the alarm, it worked fine. After trying it a few times though it started acting like there wasn't enough juice to power the alarm properly again. Go figure[sm=confused06.gif]
