I did that mod to my roadglide and it makes a great difference here in the desert. Oil only passes through the bar when the thermostat opens at 185 and let me tell you if you grab mine in the spring/summer when the oil temp is up at 200-220 you won't hold on for long,
Hi Vegas,

Where did you run your lines from the crash bar? To an oil filter adapter, or to the low pressure return lines on the side of the engine?

Thanks.

If you have an old electric fuel pump laying around you could make it flush it out , I would use K1 or somthing like that, because if you use gas or laquer thinner it would rust as fast as you could remove it.
You can buy a hand crank pump for RC planes to fill them up, for about $20.00 at a hobbie store.

thing about oil cooler is they really on work when moving unless you add a fan.
they only reduce temp a small amount.
Take a look at HD or the Lenale cooling fans they will drop temp a lot compared to oil cooler.

it works better when air is moving over it but it still works even when sitting still, it is called convection, same as the old steam heaters used to work

I had a buddy that did that mod. He had no problems, but those bars got damn hot!
