The only down side I could see would be if you dropped your bike. Even a small fall could possibly put a hole in your crash bar. If that happened you'd be stuck and waiting for a tow. Most of us won't drop our bikes, but **** happens every now and then. Just something to think about before you do the mod.
The reason that I am looking at an oil cooler is that I ride two up most of the time, and have recently started pulling a trailer. Plus it gets dadgum hot in the summer around here.
Those of you that have used the crash bar for a cooler...is it your experience that it is more efficient at cooling the oil than the HD premium or the 10 row Jagg?
I don't think i would ever ride slow enough or in parade mode enough to need a cooler...3 years 55k miles and i haven't felt the need yet...if i thought i needed one i would get a conventional proven method....There is no way i can personally feel good enough about the integrity 100% of the stock used to build that crash bar and the welds??? Het it's otherwise a good rig.
