Well, the weather could have been better but other than that not too wild this year. Maybe the cool temps kept the girls from getting too risque. Wildest thing that happened to me was Saturday night...I was with my current lady of 5 years and we had been hanging at Boot Hill with some friends. We decided to go walking and ended up at another bar. My OL and the other female went up to the bar for more drinks and as I looked up the girl behind the bar wearing the hot pants and fishnets was a looney, psycho, wacko, crazy bitch I had dated about 10 years ago in Ft Lauderdale.I had to run and hide hoping she wouldn't notice me. Funnything is, this girl had a nursing degree and now she's slinging beers in a rat hole bar in Daytona. Plus, the last 10 years had not been good to her; she had no business showing as much skin as she had hanging out. Needless to say, I got out of thereas fast as I could. My girlfriend knew something was up so I had to let her inon it and ended up catching some major grief for the rest of the night. That's aboutthe wildest it got for me. I'm hoping next year is better.
A friend of mine got side swiped by an idiot on a bike and it crushed his GF's Ankle. He kept going but others stopped who saw it happen. Got some of the worst rain/flooding, the campsite was impassible till someone took a shovel and made a culvert into the lake. Not sure who did that as it washed out terrible after that ;-) ;-) Then the cold set in after the wind died down, 30 degrees Sunday Morning, felt like I was back in Michigan but at least we were not snowed in waiting for spring!
First time there so I don't have any previous years to compare it to. Expected a lot more from the women. Nothing crazy at all. A lot of bikes of all kinds including sport bikes. Weather really sucked but that happens. Daytona itself is in need of a face lift. Kinda run down I thought. Daytona speedway needs a face lift also. Had a good time but don't think I'll be back.
So, who went to bike week and what was the single most wild thing that happened?
And who didn't go to bike week and WHY NOT?
I didn't go because I had to work. [&o]Saving vacation time for Sturgis! [8D]
I went the 1st weekend to watch some friends race. Was 29F whenI left the house and didn't warm up till I was in GA a few hours later. Stopped at Exit 3 on I-95 in GA and got a BBQ sandwich from Blue's BBQ. Was good enough I stopped the next day on my way back and tried the brisket sandwich.
Saw twowrecks racing unfortunetely but only one required an ambulance. Luckly the guy was not injured seriously.
On my way back Saturday there was a wreck of a SUVpulling a large trailer right at the I95 and I295 junction in the southbound lane coming back that jackknifed across both lanes. The right one was already closed due to construction so it was totally blocked with traffice backed up for miles.
I almost dropped 500 for a flight out of San Diego for just 15 hours of fun in Daytona with my buddy and his dad but thought better of it and just rented a bike here in SD. They said they had a good time but they live 1.5 hours from there and go every year. With the new HD dealer in Ormond Beach, Bike Week has spread out and fewer people are going to Daytona. Apparently there are events in Orlando and Jacksonville also at the same time so they spent more time riding than walking the strip. Which theyliked more anyway.
so it sounds like those of us that didnt make it , didnt miss much...
being in michigan, i would've loved to have gone to get some warm ridin' in, but it sounds like it wasnt that warm...

I stayed atthe Abate ofFlorida campground. I was really impressed with the site. Great people, excellent securityand a very good campsite. The problem was the high winds on Friday night and Saturday. Over a dozen inexpensive tents were destroyed by the wind during the pounding rain. Having your tent come apart during aheavy rain stormwhile you're trying to sleepmakes for an interesting night. My tentmade through the wind just fine and stayed dry. The winds were so bad, itblew the outhouses over and theywere setup two-by-two with the smallest sidesurface facing the wind.
There was a rumor that this was the last Bike Week for the Last Resort, but the people at the Last Resort said it wasn't true. But the trailer park next to them is up for sale.
I went Mon and Tues were great weather wise but as the week continued and more people showed up the weather turned rainy and cool really putting a nail in things overall ok nothing to ride 900 miles for.
