Default New bars on 08 Stret Glide

Anybody changed their bars on their 2008 Street Glide or Touring bike? I want to hide the mess of wires thru the bars and was wondering how hard it will be given that new throttle design on the 08 touring models. Can I do it with 1 1/4" bars? Is it a tough task to do?

You can use 1 1/4" bars. For internal wiring you will need to buy a new throttle sensor pn#32310-08 for $89.95. The stock one is not designed for internal wiring.

dawg

I am going to put a set of Carlini Original Apes 1.5" - 13" on my 08 RK.

http://www.carlinidesign.com/handleb...riginal150.php

Carlini said they will make the throttle control modification slots for me for no extra charge 6-8 week lead time. I found a drawing from Flanders on this forum for the mods to the bars. Looks like 1/2" has to be cut off and 3 slots cut into the end. 1 (3/16") on top and 2 (3/8") on the front and rear. My question is there anything else that I need to specify to Carlini for them to make this mod or that I need to get for internal wiring?

Thanks

They'll need to cut the oval in the bottom between the knurls and you will need the sensor pn#32310-08.

I just bought a set of Wild One's 575's for my '08 SG. They already have the notches cut in the end. Will I still need to purchase the new throttle sensor for these to work?

Yes because the green connector for the jumper harness pictured in the red circle in the pic of Rick's post is different for internal wiring.

Dawg,

You are right on time once again. I'm getting ready to order the 575's for my SG. I'll just add this info to the rest of stuff I have on my hard drive.

I should just call the folder Dawg's stuff as most of it was posted by dawg.

I have the Wild-1 575 on my 08 Street Glide and love them. They are very comfortable but be warned, using these handlebars will make your fairing mirrors useless(unless you like to look at your knuckles). Here's some photos of mine: http://s270.photobucket.com/albums/jj82/shuler29108/
