I have a harley and a victory (although the harley cost about 15,000 more). Seems alot of victory riders (on the internet) have a negativ attitude towards harleys. Is the feeling the same the other way? I personally like the fact that there is another American owned company mass-producing motorcycles.
I had an 06 Kingpin. Really liked the power ( a Lot!), fit and finish were good. Nice bike, well made. But I found myself missing my old Road King, so I got rid of the Vic and picked up an 07 RK. Slower? yeah.... but more comfortable, I like the handling on the harley better and I have wayyy more room in the bags. Riding my Kingpin was alot like riding a metric bike--that's not necessarily a bad thing, but it just didn't make me grin the way my Harleys have. (even when I was eating Harleys that wanted to race....
Victory has such a spotty dealer network--they're few and far between, and vary widely in quality of their service depts and customer support. Vics aren't much cheaper than HD anymore, either. They really need to watch their pricing if they want to be a preferred alternative to the MoCo.
So my opinion (fwiw) is Vics are good, well made bikes. They go fast and run well. But I've had both, and I prefer H-D.
Everyone rides what they ride, just the same as everyone drives what they drive. I feel that i am fortunate to be able to afford a brand of bike that allows me to make it a one of a kind ride, and i never have to figure out where to spend my money...
I've owned other makes of bikes as have many of the other riders in this forum and i guess the main difference for me is i get more grins per mile, even in the rain.....but i am sure rider of other bike do too???? Don't they???
We are all fortunate that none of us have to explain our choice in ride....when it's a harley...nothing more needs to be said.
they are fine motorcycles..... (IMHO) they messed badly when they ended the TC, and went with the kingpin tour... the kingpin is a GREAT bike..... but the luggage space is limited...., which matter to me, when I'm touring....
"O own a Polaris ATV but would never ownone of the street bikes. I do have a friend with one that has a bad tranny. "
Speaking of tranny's. I've been told my Victory's tranny is going to explode at any time. My bike is solid and sturdily built, but has some huge typical probelms for this model (2000 V92SC): 0dometer reset to0 when I changed the battery. Now bike has to be titled as mileage unkown. For this reason, my HD dealer wouldn't even take it in on trade for any price.
When I was shopping for my RKC the Victory TC was one of the comparison bikes I test rode... I will say I liked it much better than the VTX and Yamahas... It would be the next choice if there was no HD that fit me well... I am with others that the dealer network still leaves very much to be desired... Nice bikes though...
