I put on my adjustable backrest last year. Best $$ I have spend on a comfort item. I couldn't believe how comfortable it made riding the scoot on longer distances.
I have enjoyed my adjustable rider backrest. It is great on long haul trips and comes off when you want. When you have back injuries it is alifesaver in the comfort department, no matter what the cost.
It cost more but I am enjoying being able to adjust the backrest on the fly. Between the adjustable backrest and the Road Zep, greaterdistances, mycomfort has increaseda lot.

My sig doesn't show the Zep, as it has since been installed. The back rest is great. One of the most useable that I have owned.
BEST COMFORT ITEM I HAVE. LIKE TO ADJUST ON THE FLY PLUS LIKE THE OTHERS SAID, HEAT IS NOT AN ISSUE. ONLY PROBLEM WAS INSTRUCTIONS ARE A LITTLE FAGUE ON INSTALLATION. HAD TO MAKE A WRENCH SO I COULD TIGHTEN THE NOT INSIDE THAT LITTLE HOLE. NOW THAT I KNOW HOW IT GOES COULD PROBABLY INSTALL IN , 1 HR....RIDE SAFE...
I had the dealer install the adjustable backrest when I bought my Ultra. Love the ability to adjust it on the fly while riding.
One question for those with the adjustable back rest. When you adjust the backrest height up does your backrest move around a lot. Seems awfully loose to me when I adjust it up.
The HD ones I could never get adjusted far enough back, no matter what, they were always pushing me too far foward. Even tried jury-rigging the brackets by putting washers under the front mount point (to tilt the bracket back)
My thoughts exactly. I put the HD adjustable on my RKC and gave it a few months to egt used to. I tried the washers, etc. but couldn't get it to go back far enough. I suppose with a torch and a hammer you could "adjust" it but I chose to sell it instead.

With the Mustang that was not a problem, but my Vulcan 1600 was a whole different bike. Just gotta go try one out.
Has anyone had them break, etc?? ( The HD one, not the Mustang)
I have the manual HD back rest. It is adjustable with an allen wrench through the hole in the back. There are also 3 heighth positions. I have never changed the setting once I got it right. Have never had the adjustable on the fly version but it may be worth the money. On my last bike I had a Mustange seat with the same set up, but the back adjustment was with a thumb screw and could be adjusted on the road.
