I'm trying to decide between 18' front& rear on a 08 FLHX vs. 18/21'. I see a lot of 21' front wheels, a few 18's. Would those of you w/ 18' wheels post some picks? Time is running out for me with spring finally arriving, i'd like to order them soon. I like the slammed look the 21' wheel gives using the stock fender on the FLHX, BUT the 18' allows for a fatter front tire that IMO matches the bulk of the bike. What are some of your opinions? Should the front still be lowered any if I go the 18' route? Thanks for your input.
I had the same post a week or so ago take a look at hog pro they have a lot of pics on the site and that should help. I still am undecided so im not much help.
I went with the 18s front and back, I could have went with the 21 up front but chose not to and wish I would have went ahead and did the 21. The 18 is okay but to me the 21 just makes the bike look custom.
I went with a 18" Hog pro front wheel and a 140 metzler on the front.
Bought a chrome RKC 16" rear wheel for the back, really can't see the back and with the taller side wall on the 16" rear makes the bike look lower.
Plus save a few bucks.
I went through the whole thing. Everytime I'd go to one of the wheel sites where you can swap wheels and sizes on your bike, I'd cruise along looking at 18" wheels and thinking they look great, (and I still do BTW), then I would click on the 21" wheels and all of the sudden I found it hard to look at 18"s. They both look better than stock, but I do like the "look" of the 16" on the rear with a 21" front, even though mine are 21X18.
Whats the word on affecting the handling when you change from stock wheel sizes?
I always thought having 2 different sizes on a bike had a tremendous effect.
That's one of the reasons I never likes the WG...skinny 21" up cuttin' into the road made it more difficult to stay on top of.
check this site to see the differences between the 21 and 18. http://www.wanaryd.com/index.html?#/...acing/Recluse/im riding a 21/16 while i wait for my 18 rear to come in. only difference ive noticed is the front leans easier at faster speeds and feels heavier during slow turns.
