I am tossing around the idea of adding a ultra classic tour pack to my street glide. What is involved in doing so? I know that there is something with flashing the stereo for the rear speakers. Is the wiring there for the taillamps? I guess that is the biggest concern is the lighting. All my antenna wiring is in the fairing so thats not a problem. Thanks for the help.
Yes, there is a three-wire connector already on your bike for the Ultra TP lighting--ground, running light, and brake light. It is, however, the same connector used for your SG's Tri-bar light in the rear of your fender. There are alternatives to retain both: (1)Use the connector already on your bike and have it power both the TP and LED lights, (2)use the Accessory connector under your seat (with a 4-wire Deutsch connector in place of the three-wire connector that comes with the TP),or (3)use the license plate light wiring in the tail light assembly for the LED (you simply splice the two wires of the LED to the two wires of thelicense plate light)and usethe now vacated three-wire connector on the bike for the TP lights.
I've seen several of these posts for Tour Pac wiring (lighting) and I know many don't have the wiring tools or knowledge to make the factory harness.
I've reciently found a pre-fabricated harness and hope it comes with some instructions.
Eventhe price alone for the RTQC Quick-Connect Universal Wiring Harness $7.95 and wire is almost less then what you would get all the materials alone from the dealer with out assembly cost included for the harness.
I added the king tour pak on my '07 SG. All I did was buy the detachable kit and the antenna relocation kit. If you are going to wire up the lights on the sides, those part #'s are not listed in the HD catalog. You' ll have to get those from your stealer, and they are really cheap. I chose the detachable kit because I like flexibility to change the look of my ride. I used the stock antenna, just cut a few inches off of it from the bottom. Take a look at my pic and you' ll see my setup. BTW, no my tour pak does not my stock paint it is just primer black.Custom paint graphicis are being worked out right now.
