Default Krome Werks Sweeper bars or +2?

Good morning all. New to the forum. Lady at KW told me to ask y m question here. I've searched the site but only found one thread on this subject and that thread did not elaborate on hand positioning.
I'm only 6ft so not a giant of a man. Can't imagine what a tall man has to go thru to get a bike to fit him. Here's the situation I'm in. I have an 03 FLHTC. I installed the HD Pullbacks which I had to lower to get the hand position correct. They were so low as to be dangerous. I barely maintained control of the clutch and throttle when maneuvering in and out of the garage around my truck, trees, boat, etc... Riding down the road I did sit straight up, but had to look down to see the mirrors. If I raised them up, the grips angled up. Regardless of where I rotated the bars, the grip angle was wrong and painful.
I do not like leaning forward due to a neck injury. I prefer to have my arms raised with a slight bend to them instead of straight out like I'm riding with drag bars. Think more of the Dyna Wide Glide position.

I removed the HD Pullbacks and installed Krome Werks 300502 Sweeper bars. Nice bars even if the knurling is slight and off center. Chrome is nice and the grip angle of the bars is perfect. It's like riding my Deuce with drag bars. LOL Phooey!

I had a Corbin Dual Tour Heated seatwhich raised the seating height. I now have a Danny Gray touring seatwhich is actually more of a bar hopper seat. It's thin but nice. It lowered the seating position and placed me further back. I like that concept but my legs don't have the stretch to them and with the KW's its like riding with drag bars as I've previously mentioned.
With the Corbin seat it's like the stock bars except the angle is more open. They have great geometry to them as they make handling the bike so much better. Same height as stock but with a more open grip angle if that makes sense. It's a more natural wrist angle.

I would like to get another 2" height out of them. Looking at the product spec chart on their site, it doesn't seem the +2's are really that much higher. +2 to Harley means further into your thigh, not higher or closer to your chest.
The KW chart also isn't correct as to be able to compare the Sweepers to the stock bars. If you compare measurements, the standard Sweepers should be 2" closer. They're not. They simply provide a more open grip angle.

If the +2's are really 2" higher then how can they use the stock cables, except for the clutch?

I have already spent the money on all new cables and break lines to fit the Harley 2" Pullbacks which aren't needed for the Sweepers. If the +2 KW's are indeed a correct +2 bar, then they should work. I'm hoping so as I don't want to spend the money for another clutch cable. The swap out has already been expensive enough.

So please give me specs, not opinions. If you installed the +2 KW's how did they move your hand position? Are you a 6' or did you buy them because you're a shorter person and needed the stock bars lowered and closer? If so you probably can't offer me the advice I'm looking for.

Thanks to all for taking the time to read thru this and a bigger thank you to those who respond in kind.

Blessings,
John

John,

I am 6' and used the 300505 +2 bars on my 04 and my 08. I did this because I like to have my hands out and not turned in like the HD bars do. I also like to lean back like I'm riding a couch They claim that you don't need throttle/idle cables but mine were a tad tight and sticky so I changed them out. Hope this helps.

Bar=300505
Clutch=38649-98
Throttle=38650-98
Idle=56730-03

Thanks. I prefer to lean back as opposed to haunching forward as I have to do with stock bars, which is why I'm looking for a taller bar. I can sit upright and have my arms relaxed, instead of stretched out.
What is the position of the +2 bars on your bike? Are they low like the HD pullbacks which are like driving a tiller or something?

Awesome! Thank you for posting these pics. I really appreciate it. Guess this will be the 3rd or 4th time I'm swapping out bars. LOL I'm a quick change pro now.

Hey Sherman , welcome to the forum.
I bought and installed the 300505 KW bars after the article and pictures , Dawg did last year.
I am 5'8" short torso , long legs and arms , so I sit lower than some when they ride.
Stock seat , riders backrest.
I wanted to sit back a bit further and relax my wrists , and get my elbows out a bit when I ride.
The 300505 did exactly this for me , and the wrist position is perfect.
I also had to reach a bit for the stock bars and the wrist position gave my hands cramps.
I always felt that I had to keep my elbows in near my body to get a comfortable wrist position while riding.
The bars are really about 2" taller , and 2" more pullback than stock.
They are 3" wider than stock also.
What really got me was handling at low speeds is quite a bit easier with the increased pullback , and the width doesn't seem to hinder it either.
I can sit against the backrest , and relax as I ride now.
I didn't change any cables , but plus 2" on the throttle and plus 3" on the clutch would be perfect , and I might do it eventually.
I re-routed the clutch cable between the fairing and frame (not through the fairing hole) and the clutch even pulls easier now that it has less bends
to make.
The mirrors (bar mounted) actually work better at the higher height for me also.
I was talking to some of the guys in my local HOG chapter and had a few sit on my bike to see what they thought , most were impressed and all were
liking the hand position a lot.
To me , you should be able to close your eyes , make a fist , reach forward a bit and the bars should be right there , for me they are.
Good luck with your selection.
Mick

Thanks Mitch. That's a great description. I'm going to call KW tomorrow to order.

Wonder if there is anyone on here who would like my HD Pullbacks?

Finally got around to installing the +2 Sweepers this past Sunday. They are so much better for me than the standard Sweepers. They sit higher and come further back. I have them rotated all the way forward and it's a nice sitting position as I sit upright, something very important for my neck and back. Leaning forward isn't fun any more.
&nbsp\\;
Thanks again guys for turning me on to these bars.
