I keep my bike as nice and clean as I can. However, I bought it to ride and thats what I do. Chips and wear and tear stuff is going to happen. I guess you could keep it perfect by leaving it in the garage under the cover... But thats no fun
I agree with Scott and if a few accumulated nicks and chips bother you after a few years have it repainted for $150.
My 07 Black Pearl SG has 15,500 miles on her. I did have 1 chip in the fairing over those miles. I had bought the touchup paint when I got the bike, for just this reason. I just touched it up, more then enough to fill the chip, then sand down to level with 2000 grit wet. good polishing compond and your favorite wax and you cannot tell where the chip was, heck I can't even find it and I know where it was. When it gets so bad that I can start telling where the repairs are I will get the fairing repainted.
