Default Michellin Tires

Are any of you guys using the the new Michillen Commander tires?? And if so have you noticed any excessive black dust on your bikes after riding??

I have about 500-600 miles on this new set and they handle great, but I can completely detail the bike go out for an hour and come back and have a black dust and small bits of debris that look to be rubber all over the lower fairings. They are the correct size and they aren't rubbing anywhere. I'm just wondering if they need to break in more or something???

I assume they are a softer tire than the Dunlops but damn, if this is dust from the tires they will be worn out in no time. It's not like it is real noticeable, but you can definately wipe it off with a microfiber towel and turn it black. When I did the tires I also did Lyndall Z pads but this can't be brake dust, or at least it doesn't seem like it since they aren't suppose to put off much dust.

Anybody else having this issue???

Since Michillen is a French company I would not touch their products. In addition to that, the American government paid Michillen for every rubber tree that was damaged during the Vietnam War.

A google search of "U S pays Michellin for rubber trees" comes up with this link:

http://www.worldfreeinternet.net/news/nws2.htm

Another conspiracy theory anti/U.S. web site.....

Geez, all the guy did was ask a question about rubber dust. What the hell does politics have to do with that!

I am closing in on 7000 miles on my first set of Michelin Commanders. Can't say I have noticed any more dust than when I was riding the lops.

Looks like I am going to get about the same number of miles out of the rear commander as the stock lops.

There is another thread where a few mentioned they got hardly any miles out of the commanders...must have been an anamoly, cause most are reporting pretty good miles out of them.

Do you like the ride any better with the commanders than the stock tires? I have noticed a huge improvement.

That really answered his question.

Hey Bagger,

Yeah I love the ride, they handle great, I just wish they didn;t make such a mess. Maybe after I get some more miles on them they will stop doing that???? Hopefully they don't have Agent Orange or something. LMAO!!!!!

I only have a few hundred miles on the Commanders but really like them so far. Haven't noticed any of the dust you speak of but I will pay more attention next ride. They seem to ride and handle great. French or not they are way better than the stock lops imho
