Does anybody do anything special to carry electronic equipment on your bike? I have heard the vibration kills cameras and computers.

Thanks in advance for your time!

I went down on the freeway at 68 mph a month ago. Had my computer strapped over my shoulder in a $70 Targus canvas compiuter bag. Bag flew off in the slide and got a few wear patches but my Dell fired right up. There's my $.02. Bill to follow.

I carry my camera all the time in my bags. Never know when your going to come across a must have pic. Or better yet, a senic place to snap a shot.
My problem, is I always forget about the camera in the first place

Hey William, do you have a picture of the 46 Indian?
(not to hijack)
I just strap my laptop bag down with bungees. I’ve accidentally dropped my Gateway and it didn’t break. Pack the digital almost everywhere.
Check my photos just updated the sporty and roadking and threw one of my project in there to...........

I've been carrying my laptop on my bike for years. But it is a company laptop, and whenever it breaks I just give it to the company geeks and tell them to fix. They have had to fix it a lot, but I don't know if the bike had anything to do with it, maybe.

Thanks for all your help!
Riding is more important than worrying about my gear anyway!

I use my camera bag strapes and strap it to my risers, and neck area, seems to be okay, did it all last summer and it still works

Most laptop computers will "park" the hard drive when it is shutdown. This moves the heads away from the platters. I always shutdown mine rather then having it in standby or hibernate mode when transporting to make sure the hard drive is parked.

Sometimes when commuting, my laptop is in my backpack and I throw it in the tourpak. Took a trip to The Dragon and didn't have as much room so I put it right on the bottom of the tourpak. FWIW: I work in the computer field, and if a laptop can't take the vibration, it's not much of a laptop. I think this one (a Dell Latitude D600 is 2 1/2 years old and actually has dents in the lid from my thermos banging into in the backpack.

Digital Cameras - Have carried several in a small camera pouch and never had any problems with them.

I have been carrying Thinkpads on my bikes for a long time now - Raftgyde makes a good point in that if youe laptop can't take that amount of vibration it may not be much of a laptop - Of course you back up your data all the time so if something went wrong you would still have your data right???? There are tons of cases and gadgets out there that help reduce vibration for computers and cameras - I say carry on!!!
