I am a big fan of the add on trim piece, I think it evens out the pressure across the width of the fairing.

Taking the headlight out first is way too much trouble and not necessary.
I was going by how mine comes apart.. and the headlight assembly needs to be taken out..no other way to get at the fairing nuts... but..like I said.. mine is a '94...

There is no need to tremove the headlight or passing lights. Just cover the passing lamps with old socks to prevent scratching. When the fairing is loose, just reach behind and disconnect the headlight and leave it attached to the fairing.

Removal is about a 10 minute job.
Absolutely, andI don't even bother with the socks. No scratches and I've had it off 20 times at least. I do however put a towel on the front fender, just in case.

The link is great....leave the center screw at the windshield in and loose so when the others are out it doesn't slip down before your ready.......then take center screw out and reach in and dis-connect headlight from the back.
Good advise for Street Glides or bikes without passing lamps, but if you have them , the fairing can't slip down.

An investment in a service manual might not be a bad idea...[sm=goodidea.gif]

One more really important thing, the screws on the drivers side of the fairing are t27 not t25. A magnetic screwdriver for the ones at the bottom betwee the forks is a real good idea.

Harleyglideman, cool paint there. How about some more pictures?

Thanks for the compliment on the paint.

a) I don't want to hijack; and

b) I can't figure out how the hell to upload any other photos other thant the avatar. I followed the directions and re-sized but it still doesn't work. So that's all you're getting for now. Browsing I can do, anything more than that is a big challenge.

Ride safe.

I don't want to hijack this either, but I'd sure like to see that bike.
