I'm almost positive I've seen nice step by step instructions for removing the faring on an Electra Glide but for the life of me I can't find it! Can anyone give me link or point me in the right direction? My searches have had no success.
Piece of cake...
1. Remove 3 ( or 5 ) bolts that attach windshield.
2. Remove headlight trim ring.
3. Remove headlight assembly and disconnect headlight .
4. Remove bottom bolts that hold the driving light bar bracket, loosen top bolts. Lay towel on fender and lay light bar on it...
5. Remove 4 nuts that hold fairing to fairing support. ( look up inside fairing..)
6. Remove fairing... install is reverse...

There is no need to tremove the headlight or passing lights. Just cover the passing lamps with old socks to prevent scratching. When the fairing is loose, just reach behind and disconnect the headlight and leave it attached to the fairing.
The link is great....leave the center screw at the windshield in and loose so when the others are out it doesn't slip down before your ready.......then take center screw out and reach in and dis-connect headlight from the back.
I know you don't have to but: If your doing it alone I found it's easier to remove the headlight first. This way you don't risk scratching the fairing trying to unplug headlight connector.
As stated, slip towels over passing lamps and front fender and then you don't have to worry about scratching anything. Taking the headlight out first is way too much trouble and not necessary. # windshield screw, 4 on inner primary (2 up top on the sides and 2 down by fork sliders) pull outer fairing forward and disconnect the headlightand you are done.
after i put my fairing back on it looks like center of the fairing is pulled in to far at the top center windshield screw. But it wont tighten down until it get like that. i have taken the fairing off a few times to see if i could fix it and i cant, dont know if anyone else has experienced this
