Shouts from " Way Down Yonder n old N.O." Just get n started on HDforum and just picked up a 2008 StreetGlide FLHX. Want to up grade tunes and do a Gps. Bike has the h/k factory radio/cd (no gps) with a plug on face of unit. First can I just buy software for now to use till I get a Zumo 550 ? Also does anyone know what's the best way to hook-upan Ipod? Would like to come out of back of radio with a hard wire setup so I can, play/charge D podthrough radio. Don't no if unit has input to accept orwill Ilose CD player?
I'd appreciate any info on electronics’ up-grade as well as which way to go with up-grades to fuel/air & exhaust systems. Full Tanks Ride On !!
Hey Scott,
Congrats on the new ride, Steet Glides Rule! You can't just buy the software for the HD GPS unless you have money to burn. I beleive the GPS option is well over $ 1000.00 and jusyt plain sucks in terms of funtionality when compared to the Zumo.
As fas as the iopd goes just plug in to the jack on the front face of the headunit, turn radio to aux and voila!
As far as upgrading intake and exhaust. I went with a SEAC, SERT and Ovals so far so good. Waiting for first 1000 miles to get it tuned on the dyno. There are many different ways you can go with the intake/exhaust and Im sure someone else will chime in.
Thanks for 411 Peter. The bike is Black Pearl. Yea I read some posts on the factory unit but was told I could load software in my unit, well many be not. I will post some pic, its stock @ d moment but have $$$$ worth of chrome ordered from Surdyke.
CongratesScott, I installed a siriushead unit from my truckand just pluged into the input jack on the face of the head unit. I asked about the nav system from harley too but they said it's a new raido and about $1200 bucks! My brother has a mount for his tom tom that he found on ebay Id start by looking there. Mike
I heard the HD gps for SG was about $500...but you had to download maps for the area you were to travel to and it had limited memory.
I was jazzed about using this on my 07 SG but then just didn't want to waste $$ on something obsolete.
Congrats on yer SG.
If you got old eyes like me,
you'll be adding an A**hole bright headlamp bulb and the passing lamps.
