Default RE: We need a technical section.

I agree to a true technical section, and disagree to a touch-n-go "technical" section. (but i voted yes, still...:P)

Let me explain how i view a technical section should be:
1. How to remove and install a Road Glide fairing.
Besides pix and step-by-step illustration, whichmay be obtained roughly from service manual...
I was hoping to have someguide to convert non-fairing RK to a RG-like ride. with details of torque, bolts, etc listed. (I know none of the service manual will share this, esp the HD manual bcoz we are NOT suppose to do that!!)

4. How to change the oil without making a mess.
Classic example of what can be found in service manual. and we may not need to know more than smelling the oil.(for burnt alternator)

7. How to install a PCIII or other.
Manual says quite clearly how to install PCIII.(this is currently my latest project) But nothing tells us how toDIY a map. I know we are suppose to leave it to the expert. Since i have paid for the PCIII, i got to know the fundamental to appreciate why it worth that much to dyno the bike.

If we do not know anything, but want the bike to be in good condition. Money will do the job.

If we do know something, and want the bike to be good, less money will be needed to do the job.(evaluate the job and pay accordingly)

If we do know the details of it, we will DIY, and save the money for more chrome! and hopefully the knowledge comes from this technical section.

Our manual covers your particular bike. I would agree on a garage type tech. section. we do a lot of modifying on our own and this section could give a lot of help. Many makes threads on how they did something and when you need it you can't find it. Least wise I can't. Average maintance, the manual will do it and the sections Terry posted helps a lot to.
