Great post. Have been considering the same thing. However, my low rider is set up to travel & I can do 11 hour days without strain & pain. Plus, I really like its agility. Will be test riding the Road King first, as that's what I think I want to go to. Other thoughts are to just bite the bullet and go the full blown bagger route, tunes & all.
Can't do the 2 bike thing.

I've had both. Last bike was the RKC, this one is the Glide. Still in love with the classic look of the Road King but got tired of singing to myself (guess I need to learn some new songs). Honestly, if the dealer would've had the color I wanted I would probably still be on a RKC. I have no complaints at all about the SG though. It is much quicker to clean (no lace wheels or whitewalls). You can stuff the hard leather bags on the RKC more than the hardbags on the Glide. You can lock the bags on the Glide. I guess it just comes down to what strikes your fancy the day you walk into the dealer.

Dynamite, I was in your situation. Had my Dyna for 2.5 years. Great steed but it was time for a little more cushy ride. No matter which one you choose, you will be amazed at how comfortable and fun the FL series are.

I'd rent a few of them first. Take out a RKC for a day. Maybe an EGlide the next. It's only money! But money well spent because you'll have a better idea of the bike you want.

You'd be surprised what a set of leather lowers and the windshield on the RK provide as far as protection in the rain and colder weather.

Although the E Glide will give you the best protection by far.

Good luck and have fun shopping...

I have thought about keeping the Dyna once it is paid off, but there is a matter of storage.
LOL. This was the reason I had to let my Dyna go as well. Wanted to keep it but just didn't have the room for two bikesin the man cave.

I'd get the Road King. Hard bags are great. But I am a bit biased...

It is fine for around town, too. Been riding to work for weeks now and it does double duty very well. Short jaunts and long distance, it does it all.

Welcome to Bagger Nation. You'll never go back.

One of the nice things about the Road King Classic bags is that you can stuff them and have them expand a little bit. I wonder how I know this?

Another thing about the RK Classic. I have ridden with no windshield, with windshield and with a fairing from a 1972 Electra Glide. Three bikes in one.

Personally like the converablity of the RK with the bags and shield a cruiser, without a sport bike. With a big inch motor, a Hot Rod!

First, Any of the touring bikes are going to vibrate more than your Dyna. The Dyna has the counterbalanced motor in it and the touring bikes dont. But on the slab its going to be as smooth as glass. Second you have to decide how you are going to use this bike. If you plan on some long road trips and ride 2 up, the choice has got to be a Classic or the Ultra. I switched to my Classic from a SuperGlide and tho the Classic isnt as fast as the SuperGlide was It feels better under you.

My mistake, I could have sworn that my Superglide had the B.
